01.09.10 | Upcoming Projects for the New Year In addition the the regular gigging of Quintopus, I'm booking some gigs with Butterscotch Junction. This band formed about a year ago and features Jeff McLeod on Nord Combo Organ, as well as Mike Frederick on guitar. We'll be performing a lot of recent organ trio rep by Sam Yahel on January 12th at Boulder Coffee.
Also, stay tuned for an exciting project led by bassist Jeff Campbell (http://www.esm.rochester.edu/faculty/?id=55). This group features tenor saxophonist Doug Stone (www.dougstonejazz.com) and myself performing Jeff original compositions from his last two albums. Really fun challenging material that originally featured John Hollenbeck and John Wojciechowski.
DubbleStuff (www.myspace.com/dubblestuff) will be embarking on another "Music in the 21st Century" tour in March, this time of Spokane, Washington. It will be great to share this high-energy music with local schools and venues.
I'm also going to be doing some subbing in the Dave Rivello Ensemble over the next few months, filling in for Kate Pittman's sonic wizardry. This band just recorded material for a new cd in December, and if you haven't heard them you're missing out. Dave's music is powerful, inspiring stuff. (www.daverivello.com)
The Quintopus gig on February 7th at Lovin' Cup will be a great time, lots of new material. In the past few months of playing the group has really coalesced and I'm looking forward to more great gigs.
Nick Finzer's quintet will be performing a live concert on local radio station Jazz 90.1 at 7PM on January 20th, a.k.a. MY BIRTHDAY! You can stream it live at jazz901.org
Come catch some live music!

03.04.08 | Recent performances Hi to all, I wanted to give an update of some things that have happened so far this semester. After ending my first semester with the New Jazz concert with Ed Neumeister and his music, I had the opportunity to play a 2 nights at ella's Supper Club in Spokane with Localized Tenderness XL (featuring our old crony Justin Keller) and 1 in a trio with Josh Simon and Todd Delgiudice. Great fun, hopefully it will be an annual happening.
After returning to the ROC I had the opportunity to play on trumpeter Dave Hart's DMA recital, featuring Dayna Stephens, Jeremy Siskind and Curtis Ostle. The music of Roland Vasquez and an amazing concert with Rich Perry kept me very busy in recent weeks. The Po Boys Brass Band also recorded a 4 song EP that should hit the streets in the next couple of months.
06.19.07 | New freefire audio/Fugu Apprentice I uploaded "Nexus Point" a Don Goodwin tune that we performed with Freefire at Centerfest. That ordeal also marked the first gig for Fugu Apprentice. There should be upcoming gigs for both of these groups, so keep an eye out.
